Alliska Lahusen was born in Poland. Graduated from l'École Supérieure des Beaux Arts of Warsaw in 1972, she lives and works in Paris and Bourgogne (France).
I develop my artistic thinking first in three dimensions works and my paintings are like an echo, a response to my sculptures. I work mainly on lead sheets, pasted on wood, on which I perform as drawer, engraver and painter, using acids, crude pigments, pastels and oil painting. In a general way, I search after an economy of the color in favour of a development of the matter.
Much of my work can be read as an approach to the fundamental archetypes. Thus the works of the serie Beds evokes birth as well as death, rest as love. They are an evocation of the life stages. Those of the serie Barques evokes the travel, the crossing, the departure. And of course the last trip and the passage to another world. The works of the serie Bowls, typical instrument of the beggar, are also a symbol of the offering, the generosity and the gift, that means the basis of the relationship to the others.
Since several years, I have developed my work by the use of the traditional oriental lacquer. The long process of the superposition of the diferent states of colours permits a meditation about the time and the themes of reflection and depth. The lacquer is also an opening to the colors and their symbolic and sensual language.
